More than 400 students were involved in the first two days of Mi Voglio SicurƏ to raise awareness among young people about responsible driving.
It started on Wednesday 24 January, with a first meeting at the Giosuè Carducci Classical High School, followed by a second appointment, on Thursday 25 January, at the I.I.S. Severi-Correnti institute in Milan, “Mi Voglio SicurƏ”, the training course on road safety aimed at young people, planned within the Milan Metropolitan Safety Project.
The training project, conceived by Safety21, was made possible thanks to the collaboration with the Metropolitan City of Milan, involving expert trainers from the Lorenzo Guarnieri Onlus Association, which has been active for over 10 years in the prevention of road violence, together with psychologists and psychotherapists specialized in the sector.
The training for young people is intended not only as road and legality education, but also as a reminder of virtuous behaviour on the road for the protection of human life, with the ambitious intent, for the 2023/2024 school year, of involving a potential of 1,000 students from different schools located in the territory of the Metropolitan City of Milan.
The educational approach is to empower young people through the testimony of how much conduct, as road users, can actually affect the safety of each person and of the community at the same time.
The ultimate goal? Promote and disseminate a culture of road safety among the younger generations and educate all road users, including pedestrians and cyclists, on the importance of compliance with the rules, and to develop and cultivate a civic feeling towards road safety, with awareness of the risks associated with incorrect driving behaviour.
In particular, these first two meetings were attended by Stefano Guarnieri – Vice President of the Lorenzo Guarnieri Association, Pieralessandro Scotti – Head of the Local Police of the Metropolitan City, Maria Gabriella Anania – Psychologist Psychotherapist expert in Traffic Psychology and institutional representatives of the Metropolitan City of Milan and the institutes.
In the educational program, reflections, interactive tests and testimonials, to focus on the value of the rules of the Highway Code and above all the risks associated with distractions, the effects of alcohol and drug impairment in road traffic.

From October 24 to 26, 2023, the 40th annual ANCI assembly took place at the blue pavilion of the Genoa Fair. The event, of which we were the main partner, was a moment of great satisfaction. Over 200 mayors and municipalities visited our booth, which proved to be a stimulating meeting point for dialogue.
This context also provided us with the opportunity to share our vision and solutions for a smart life and to introduce Cerbero, the brand-new dynamic behavioral detection system based on AI. Through a neural network system, Cerbero can detect anomalous situations, danger, and even illicit human behavior.
The attention and interest received demonstrated how municipalities, and those who represent them, are now ready to embark on the path of technological innovation, of which Safety21 is a pioneering forefront.
We received excellent feedback from various Ministers who visited us, including Honorable Matteo Salvini, Carlo Calenda, Francesco Lollobrigida, Giuseppe Valditara, and ANCI President Antonio Decaro.
“The Future is drawn together” is the motto that characterized the 2023 edition of the Let’s Build the Future Award for Milan and the Metropolitan City, supported for the fourth consecutive year by the Safety21 Group.
On Saturday, October 21st, the closing ceremony of the seventh edition of the Let’s Build the Future Award took place at the auditorium of the Allianz MiCo – Milano Convention Center.
The goal of this charitable initiative is in fact to concretely support the valuable work of small and very small realities that every day are committed to the area in the sports and social fields to promote integration, inclusion and reduce the obstacles that people with disabilities may encounter every day.
The award is aimed at those who, through sport, are involved in educating, accompanying, raising young people and children, integrating disabled people or people in a state of fragility, and to all those who rely on sport to address social issues in the city of Milan, particularly in the suburbs, also raising awareness among the population on important issues such as bullying.
During the award ceremony, 59 associations were awarded, selected by the Honorary Committee, chaired by Professor Lorenzo Ornaghi and composed of the project partners and personalities from the cultural world and the third sector, as well as some representatives of the Costruire il Futuro Foundation. The associations received a total of €123,000 in contributions, with amounts ranging from €1,000 to €5,000.
For the fourth year in a row, Safety21 reinforces its commitment to the community by supporting the Let’s Build the Future Award, offering a contribution to small businesses, which stand out for their active contribution to the promotion of values such as hospitality and inclusion, as well as the fight against critical social phenomena such as bullying.
Saturday, October 22 at the auditorium of the Allianz MiCo – Milan Convention Center took place the closing ceremony of the sixth edition of the Costruire il Futuro Award, the initiative conceived and promoted by the Fondazione Costruiamo il Futuro and also supported by Safety21 for three years.
The Costruire il Futuro Award arrived in Milan and its province six years ago to concretely support the commitment and projects of the Milanese sports associations, which dedicate their work to children and young people, generating positive environments capable of educating through sport, passion and loyalty
For this reason, Safety21 has decided to support for the third consecutive year the Costruire il Futuro Award, offering a contribution to amateur sports realities linked to the territory and active in promoting hospitality, inclusion and awareness of important issues such as bullying.
The Prize consists of a cash contribution: in the last five editions, the Foundation has supported more than 160 sports associations, donating about 330,000 euros to the most deserving projects. This year 240 associations registered for the call: of these, 55 were carefully selected by the Honorary Committee, chaired by Professor Lorenzo Ornaghi and composed of the project partners and personalities from the cultural world and the third sector, as well as some representatives of the Costruire il Futuro Foundation, and were awarded through contributions ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 euros.
Today, October 25, 2022, the conference “Sulla Stessa Strada. Public-Private: a success story”: a moment of discussion on the broader issues of road safety, starting from the first results of the “Milano Metropolitan Safety Project“, one of the main smart city projects in Europe for the reduction of accidents, which the Metropolitan City of Milan is developing with Safety21.
The aim is to achieve the European strategic goal “2030 Zero victims on the roads” and allow a more effective control of the territory, thanks to the use of innovative technology, IoT devices and cloud data management and storage systems.
Beatrice Uguccioni, Councillor delegated to Mobility and Infrastructure, opens the morning, declaring ‘Milano Metropolitan Safety Project is grafted on the theme, for us a priority, of the Culture of Safety that must be declined in all its aspects from the protection of the planet, to urban regeneration, to safety in the workplace, to accessibility and metropolitan urban inclusiveness that sees us at the forefront.’
More than two years after its activation – which began in 2020 – Progetto Sicurezza Milano Metropolitana now has 132 IoT devices already installed on Milan’s provincial roads, systems capable of monitoring parking areas, traffic and pedestrian crossings, and traffic light control devices, average and instantaneous speed detection devices.
All the tools communicate with the Safety21 Titan® platform supplied to the Local Police in order to make the fight against violations of the highway code more efficient, faster and more sustainable with a substantial reduction in the time spent by resources in the field. The control systems of the territory also allow, moreover, not only to monitor the viability and prevent accidents, but also to detect crimes and risk situations. For example, the surveillance cameras of the rest areas have allowed, thanks to interoperability with other police forces, the identification of perpetrators of serious crimes such as threats, private violence, attempted murder and theft.
“The key points of the project are three: first, safety as accessibility: an unsafe or “disordered” territory punishes the most fragile and rewards the bullies. Second, safety as legality: an orderly road is a road in which traffic follows the provisions of the Highway Code and those who transgress, transgress the law.Third, safety as culture: the protection of citizens’ health is a public duty and the control of the territory and the conscious use of tools helps everyone. Finally, the project works because the basic requirements for the usefulness of project financing exist: a serious proposal from a reliable supplier and the ability of the Public Administration to measure and analyze the results” says Maria Cristina Pinoschi, Deputy General Manager of the Metropolitan City of Milan and Head of Project Finacing
“The project financing tool – says Gianluca Longo, CEO of Safety21 – represents a virtuous example of collaboration between the Public Administration and technological partners to support the programs that the body has conducted so far in the field of road safety with the added value of Cloud technology, IoT and data analysis. The high technological capacity of Titan® allows it to manage a significant number of equipment, extending the program to the implementation of various services, always updated, for an increasingly wide security on the territory and a more efficient management, for the Police Forces of the resources used”.
The morning continued with the round table moderated by journalist Fabio Massa and opened by Marco Granelli, Councillor for Security and Civil Protection of the Municipality of Milan. Other speakers included: Giordano Biserni, President of ASAPS, Maurizio Crispino, Full Professor of the Politecnico di Milano and member of the Superior Council of Public Works, Stefano Guarnieri, Vice President of the Lorenzo Guarnieri Onlus Association and Simonetta Lo Brutto, First Director of the State Police and Director of the Milan Traffic Police Section.
From 2019 to 2021 (2020 is not very indicative, due to lockdowns) according to ACI/Eupolis data, road accidents in the area of the Metropolitan City of Milan fell from 13,607 to 11,385, 16% less. As for the deaths, it went from 106 to 87, a decrease of 18%, while the wounded went from 18,097 to 14,390, a good 20% less. The Metropolitan City of Milan is, for this reason, among the territories where more human lives have been saved than in the previous 12 months. Compared to an analysis of the effectiveness of speed control instruments, the primary cause of accidents on the territory, the data acquired so far within the project show the positive action of active control systems.
Milano Metropolitan Safety Project, a virtuous example of public-private partnership, and this conference was an opportunity to share the path and the tools put in place capable of responding to the different needs of road safety and the territory with a view to innovation, sustainability, simplification and transparency.
Metropolitan City of Milan increasingly innovative and smart.
