Safe Pedestrian 2.0 arrives in Ameglia

Pedone-SIcuro-2.0-Ameglia

The focus on pedestrians on our roads is on the rise with the implementation of safety plans that include advanced control technologies. One of these is Safe Pedestrian 2.0, an innovative system for monitoring pedestrian crossings without traffic lights, patented exclusively by Safety21, which following installations in the municipalities of Arosio, Labico, Porto San Giorgio and Torno, has now arrived for the first time in Ameglia (La Spezia).

As part of an integrated project in which the Municipality of Ameglia will adopt active monitoring tools to raise safety standards, Safe Pedestrian 2.0 will be implemented on the S.S. (ex S.P.) 432 “Bocca di Magra” to make the pedestrian crossing at km 4+070 more visible and secure, by means of an advanced signalling system.

Safe Pedestrian 2.0 is made up of a fisheye camera and four photocells that detect the presence of a pedestrian on the pavement and/or near the pedestrian crossing and activate four light systems installed near the pedestrian crossing and two further away, in order to alert motorists.

The device is also equipped with a camera with 360° footage which also allows real-time monitoring of the area and retrieval of video recordings in the event of an accident.
